As far as “guest” animals… we at Santa Cruz Flea
Market all love our pets. They are not appropriate visitors to the
Swap Meet, for many reasons. We do not condone in any way leaving
a pet in your vehicle while you shop, and will contact authorities
if we see an animal that appears to be suffering from heat in an
unattended vehicle. No dogs left unattended in the back of trucks,
even if leashed. Dogs are unacceptable companions in the shopping
areas of the Market, and shoppers seen with dogs will be asked to
leave immediately, without refund. Please love your best friend
enough to leave them at home when visiting the swap meet!
ALCOHOL: No alcoholic beverages may be brought
in or consumed by any individual (vendor or buyer). This is the
law! Violators will be evicted without refund.

to be paid in full before the beginning of the calendar quarter.
Vendors holding quarterly reservations are subject to the same cut-off
times (8:30 a.m. on Saturday, 7:00 a.m. on Sunday) as weekly pre-paid
reservation holders.
TRASH: Vendors are responsible for removing ALL
trash and unsold items from our grounds. This includes, but is not
limited to, the boxes that contained the vendors’ items, “free
stuff”, packing materials, as well as any items unsold at
the end of the day. Violators will be charged a fee for the first
offense, and repeated offenses will lead to suspension or complete
discontinuation of selling privileges.
VENDOR PARKING: Spaces are rented with room for
ONE vehicle and goods. Sellers may NOT park extra vehicles anywhere
on our property, nor may their helpers park anywhere on our property,
even with paid buyer’s admission ticket. We have limited parking
facilities, and each vendor that takes up parking space all day
prevents a minimum of 5 buyers from finding convenient parking to
shop. Vendors found having extra vehicles on our property will be
subject to immediate towing of that vehicle, at the vehicle owner’s
expense. *Exceptions may be granted to vendors with physical infirmities
or disabilities. Each exception is on a case-by-case basis at management’s
discretion, and MUST be cleared with the manager before doing so.
Otherwise, vehicles may be towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.
VACATING: Our rules require that ALL VENDORS vacate
the grounds no later than 2 p.m. on Fridays, 4 p.m. Saturday and
Sunday. As noted under “Trash”, ALL trash and left-over
unsold goods, boxes, and packing materials must be taken away by
the vendor. Violators will be warned and cited, and habitual offenders
will be suspended and/or fined for trash removal.
WHAT YOU MAY SELL: We do have some restrictions
on what items may be sold. In general, any sale of food/beverage
intended for consumption on the grounds is prohibited. Sale of counterfeit,
bootleg or pirated recordings (CD, DVD, VHS) is strictly prohibited.

Other items are at the Flea Market owner’s discretion. Drug
paraphernalia is not allowed. Pornography must NOT be displayed
openly, but must be boxed or screened from view. If you have a question
about whether your items are permitted, feel free to ask.
Anyone selling more than two times in any 12 month period is required
to have a Resale Permit issued by the State Board of Equalization,
and have it in their possession when selling at the Flea Market.
Those people selling produce or other allowed food products are
required to have a Health Permit issued by the Santa Cruz County
Health Department.
Vendors must keep their spaces and areas surrounding their spaces
clean and free of hazards at all times. Vendor assumes liability
for injury to third parties occurring as a result of their negligence
or hazards on their space.
Vendors must take down all tarps (with the exception of mesh-type
tarps) when requested to do so by Flea Market Employees. This request
will be made only as needed, for your own safety and the safety
of other patrons. Refusal to comply promptly may result in immediate
eviction without refund.
Management reserves the right to determine acceptable volume of
all music being played. Failure to cooperate may result in immediate
eviction without refund.
We reserve the right to refuse service or admission to anyone,
for any reason. Any violation of our rules or disturbance of the
peace on our grounds will result in immediate eviction without refund.
RAIN POLICY:
No rainchecks or refunds given.
If you have a weekly pre-paid reservation, you may move it forward
one week, for the same day (Saturday or Sunday) and space you have
reserved. You must contact the Flea Market -462-4442, during office
hours on the day you have reserved, prior to the cut off time noted
on your reservation ticket. (Saturday 8:30 a.m., Sunday 7 a.m.)

PRESS RELEASE
February 22, 2008
Santa Cruz Flea Market Will Reopen March 7th
Goodwill Industries is delighted to announce that they will reopen
the popular open-air market on Friday, March 7 and will operate
every Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the year, weather permitting.
The Flea Market will reopen in the same location as the former Skyview
Flea Market and will maintain a similar pricing structure as was
in effect previously.
Michael Paul, President and CEO of Goodwill, said, “Because
so many people depended on the flea market we wanted to get the
market up and operating as soon as possible so few changes were
made. Once we are up to speed we will look for improvements in the
business that will benefit the vendors and the community.”
What won’t be the same at the market is the food service.
The former snack shack is in poor condition and needs a lot work
to get health permits. So, initially, independent vendors will provide
food. Also there will be no alcohol served or allowed in the market
and there will be no karaoke.
Information about the flea market can be accessed on Goodwill’s
website at www.scgoodwill.org ; click on the link that says “Flea
Market info”. Vendors who wish to reserve space at the flea
market can come to the market area starting Friday, March 7th at
7 AM.
Press Release by PAMF (The Palo Alto Medical Foundation, a division
of Sutter Health) about the Santa Cruz Flea Market:
January 31, 2008
Palo Alto Medical Foundation Leases Former Skyview Property to
Goodwill Industries for Use as Flea Market and Donor Drop-Off Site
Revenue generated from the one-year lease will
enable PAMF to donate $125,000 to
Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County
Santa Cruz, Calif. – The Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF),
a Sutter Health affiliate that operates the Santa Cruz Medical Foundation,
Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center, and the Visiting Nurse Association
of Santa Cruz, has finalized a lease agreement with Goodwill Industries
of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties to operate
a flea market and donor drop-off site at 2260 Soquel Drive.
The one-year agreement goes into effect on March 1, 2008 and contains
a mutual option to renew for an additional 12 months. The flea market
is tentatively scheduled to open in early March and will operate
on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“We are pleased to be able to partner with Goodwill Industries
to keep a flea market operating in Santa Cruz County,” said
Larry deGhetaldi, M.D., president of the Santa Cruz region of PAMF.
“This agreement allows the continuation of a community resource
that has value to many local residents while a long-term flea market
location is identified.”
“Operation of the flea market will help us to support local
services that benefit our community, such as providing education,
employment and job training services to people with barriers to
employment,” said Michael Paul, CEO of Goodwill Industries
of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties. “The
flea market is consistent with our other efforts to raise funds
through the collection and sale of clothing and household items
in a manner that encourages the reuse/recycling of these material
resources thereby creating employment that benefits and protects
the environment.
“We look forward to operating the flea market for many years
to come,” added Paul. “Our agreement with PAMF/Sutter
allows us time to find a permanent location for the flea market
in Santa Cruz County.”
After purchasing the former Skyview property in November 2007,
PAMF/Sutter was approached by a number of organizations and individuals
to operate a flea market, but only entered into discussions with
Goodwill Industries. As a non-profit organization dedicated to helping
the local community, and an organization with the working capital
to address potential liability issues, including insurance coverage,
Goodwill Industries fit PAMF’s/Sutter’s criteria for
a flea market operator at the site.
Revenue generated by the agreement will enable PAMF/Sutter to make
a $125,000 donation to Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County, an organization
that offers insurance to children in families at or below 300 percent
of the federal poverty level ($63,600 for a family of four). Sutter
Maternity and Surgery Center will also make its annual $100,000
donation to Healthy Kids. Since 2003, PAMF and Sutter Maternity
and Surgery Center have contributed $800,000 to support children’s
access to health insurance through Healthy Kids and Healthy Families,
the state program that provides health insurance for children in
families at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level ($53,000
for a family of four).
“We are thrilled to be able to further support Healthy Kids
of Santa Cruz County,” said Dr. deGhetaldi. “Healthy
Kids plays a vital role in the health of children in our community.
Research clearly shows that when children have a primary care doctor
who sees them on a regular basis, it reduces the number of visits
to hospital emergency rooms for non-urgent conditions, reduces unnecessary
hospitalizations and shrinks the health care bills that are ultimately
passed onto taxpayers to care for the uninsured. Providing all children
with health insurance not only is the socially responsible thing
to do but also makes good economic sense.”
“This generous donation from PAMF/Sutter will allow more
kids to come off of our waiting list to receive the health care
and insurance they need to lead healthier lives,” said Leslie
Conner, program director of Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County. “These
new funds are even more critical now that California’s health
care reform efforts have failed. With more than 400 kids on our
waiting list, Healthy Kids is committed to raising as much money
as possible to cover as many local kids as possible. PAMF’s/Sutter’s
gift is a huge help.
“We are grateful for their support and applaud their commitment
to our community. PAMF’s/Sutter’s innovative partnership
with Goodwill Industries, which will allow a flea market to operate
in Santa Cruz County, ultimately benefits our community in a number
of ways.”
PAMF/Sutter will use the next year or two to develop plans for
the site at 2260 Soquel Drive that will help to address the growing
health care needs of the community. The acquisition of this property
allows PAMF/Sutter to look at providing additional medical office
space for physicians, as well as additional diagnostic services
and expanded hospital services for the community. Due to a shortage
of physicians in the region, PAMF/Sutter is making a concerted effort
to bring in additional primary care physicians and medical specialists
to replace physicians who are retiring and physicians who are leaving
the area.
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation for Health Care, Research and
Education is a not-for-profit health care organization that is a
pioneer in the multispecialty group practice of medicine. The Santa
Cruz region of PAMF provides care through three local facilities:
Santa Cruz Medical Clinic, Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center
and the VNA of Santa Cruz County. The division also includes the
Santa Cruz Medical Foundation, which provides Santa Cruz County
residents with general health care, family practice, urgent care,
primary care and health care specialists. The 30-bed Sutter Maternity
and Surgery Center offers state-of-the-art perinatal and medical/surgical
services combining the luxury of a fine hotel with the safety and
security of a licensed accredited hospital. VNA of Santa Cruz County,
a bilingual/bicultural organization, provides quality, compassionate,
skilled care to homebound patients throughout Santa Cruz County.
