Counseling Services
Shoreline Workforce Development Services, offers Vocational Rehabilitation
Counseling and Case Management services for people disabled by industrial
injuries and other circumstances. The program goal is to assist
the person in gaining marketable job skills and re-entering the
work force at the earliest opportunity. Our counseling staff has
thorough knowledge of the local labor market and are adept in the
development of appropriate plans for identifying and attaining a
vocational goal.
Placement Services
Shoreline offers Job Placement Services for people disabled by
industrial injuries and other circumstances. Participants are referred
by the Department of Rehabilitation, Veterans Affairs and private
counselors. The program goal is to assist the participant enter
or re-enter the work force at the earliest opportunity. Our placement
staff has thorough knowledge of the local labor market and are adept
in the development of appropriate plans for identifying and attaining
a vocational goal. To sustain our successful job placement rate,
we provide career exploration and counseling, labor market research,
resume preparation, interviewing skills, job development and employee
contacts. We also provide on-going job club activities which prepare
our Shoreline students to become active, poised and confident job
seekers.
Job Search Workshop
Started in 2004, the Job Search Workshop Program develops essential
employability and job retention skills for CALWORKS and General
Assistance clients in Santa Cruz County. Operating out of the Capitola
and Watsonville One Stops, the program provides support and empowerment
to the unemployed and underemployed. The program assists them in
developing work readiness skills, holding students accountable for
showing up on time, attending regularly and grooming in a manner
appropriate to the workplace. Active participation, teamwork, open
communication and respect for all become hallmarks for all candidates
and staff. One-on-one assistance is also provided on active job
search methods including extensive practice on the internet for
appropriate job leads and other useful employment information. For

Vocational Evaluation
Our vocational evaluation unit in Santa Cruz offers a full range
of services, including psychometric tests, work samples, graduated
evaluation and work assessment. These procedures accurately determine
whether a person can perform in both general and specific job situations.
During the evaluation, clients learn about their abilities, aptitudes
and physical tolerances. They can also be assessed in real work
situations. We also have state-of-the-art low vision equipment to
assist in evaluating individuals with serious sight impairment.
Work Experience
Work Experience is a program available to current CalWORKs recipients.The
Work Expereince Program benefits worksites and participants by matching
individuals with volunteer opportunities enable them to gain work
experience. Participants bring to the work place what they have
learned in school, business or vocational settings. There is no
cost or fee to the worksite or the participant.
